Otterdock — Additional Privacy Terms
Last updated: July 19, 2026
These additional privacy terms supplement the SaveTimeForFun Privacy Policy and describe data practices specific to Otterdock. Please read both documents together.
Scope
These terms apply specifically to the Otterdock macOS application. For general data practices covering all SaveTimeForFun products, refer to our brand Privacy Policy.
Local Data Storage
Otterdock stores its core configuration data locally on your Mac. Group configurations, full app and file paths, bundle identifiers, custom icon skins, and interface preferences are stored in ~/Library/Application Support/Otterdock/ and macOS UserDefaults. Current builds do not send group names, item names, file paths, file contents, app configurations, or detailed error messages to analytics services. Builds before 45 may have included a group or item display name in some analytics events; they never uploaded full paths, file contents, or the configuration database.
Dock Data Access
Otterdock reads and writes macOS Dock preferences (com.apple.dock) to create and manage group folder shortcuts on your Dock. This is a standard macOS API and affects only the Dock's configuration file. Changes can be fully reverted by removing the Otterdock-created folders from your Dock.
Edition-Specific Permissions
The Direct edition may request macOS Accessibility permission for hover-to-expand. It uses that permission only to detect the pointer relative to Dock items. The Mac App Store edition does not request Accessibility permission and uses click mode. No accessibility data is transmitted externally.
Updates by Edition
The Direct edition uses Sparkle to contact our update server and may send the current app and macOS versions. The Mac App Store edition receives updates through Apple and does not include Sparkle. No personal data is included in Direct-edition update checks.
Payments by Edition
Direct-edition purchases are processed by Creem (Armitage Labs OÜ). Mac App Store purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit. Each purchase belongs to its own edition and is restored through that edition's payment provider. The applicable store may collect transaction, billing, and payment information under its own privacy policy. Otterdock does not receive or store your payment card details.
Analytics
Otterdock uses TelemetryDeck and PostHog for product analytics. They receive product-interaction events and a random app-generated identifier stored on the device so events can be counted over time. This identifier is not an Apple ID, advertising identifier, hardware serial number, name, or email address. Analytics are not used for tracking or advertising and are not linked to your identity. Current builds do not send group names, item names, file paths, file contents, app configurations, or detailed error messages. Builds before 45 may have included a group or item display name in some events. You can opt out in Settings.
